Recreating History
My idea for this honors experience is to recreate different artists’ work with my own twist. I explore my own subject matter, as I love drawing animals and nature, but will incorporate different materials and techniques from different artists that I will handpick from history
The first aspect of the project will be the research portion. While no proper research paper will be written, I want to research different artists, both past and present, to see what types of art I want to recreate. I will learn about what these different artists used to create their art, their techniques, and more. I have chosen two documentaries, listed below, to watch in order to learn more about some topics I am interested in, along with some additional research to find an array of artists to recreate.
The second and larger aspect of this honors experience is the creating aspect. I plan to produce up to 10 works of art, each implementing a different artists’ technique and style. This art ranges from using colored pencil to oil paint. I want to focus on creating 2D art, as I am not explored in the area of 3D art at all, and would not have access to a kiln for firing pottery or any supplies having to do with 3D art.
I wanted to recreate these different types of art using as many different media types as I can, especially those that I have not previously tried. Instead of staying in my comfort zone, I’d love to try new things with these pieces and be able to possibly find new mediums to work in frequently.
