This honors experience was a seminar about energy, environment, and society in Scotland, as well as a study abroad to Scotland in December 2023. This course covered basics on electricity generation, fossil fuel technologies, a shift to solar, wind, and other renewables, hydrogen technology and EVs, energy storage, nuclear, challenges and opportunities in the industrial sector, and policy. This wide range of topics formed an in-depth look at energy as it stands today in the US and in Scotland.

For the study tour, the class visited different universities and energy groups in Scotland from December 8th to December 16th. These included St. Andrews University, the University of Edinburgh, and the University of Strathclyde, as well as the Scottish Government Net Zero Office, ADL, and ARUP Energy Group.
