Personalized Portraits Showcase

For this honors experience, I wanted to create works of art for and of people in my life. I had a few goals for this project that I was able to meet over the course of the experience:
1) Use new techniques in my creative process to explore my bounds of creativity.
2) Make the subject matter match a person's personality, experiences, goals, looks, etc. to showcase themselves.
3) Constantly build upon my art using techniques learned in the prior piece.
With these goals, I was able to create a portfolio that reflected some of the closest people in my life in many different ways. Some paintings reflect the calmness and dreams of the individual, whereas others are more chaotic and expressive.
Something that I learned from this experience was that limitations stretched my creative limits more than hinder my imagination. I created the last 3 paintings with some sort of limitations for each, and they turned out to be the pieces of art that made me think more creatively about the composition and abilities that I had for each work. I also learned how to use texture in a painting, which is something that I have never explored before.
