Over the past two weeks, I have worked on various projects at my internship. One of the big projects that I am finishing up now is designing a website graphic for the co-op and recruitment website. This graphic had been an idea for a while, but when my supervisor recognized my talent for art and design, she immediately assigned me the task.

We started with a design that was made for a pizza shop. It was a fun, airy design with elements of the locally-owned pizza shop, such as melting mozzarella cheese and different specialty pizza names. We wanted to make something that was similar, but with features that represented Ulliman Schutte's co-op program. The team workshopped some ideas of words and images, and then left the rest up to me. The result is a hand-drawn website graphic which will be interactive, as you will be able to click on the different words to learn more about each of them. The graphic is in its final stages currently.

I have also been very involved in creating a new co-op welcome gift. Together with the marketing team, we envisioned a custom-made mug in a custom-made box, along with a card welcoming them into the company. I was in charge of designing each facet of the gift, including ordering from vendors and getting the final products. Below is the design for the medallion on our custom mug, a prototype for the custom-made mug box, and a draft for the card which will come inside of the package.

Although these projects have been a main focus of mine, I have also been tackling projects from day to day. I have been working in Adobe InDesign in order to create cover pages and tabs for proposals and bids whenever needed, as well as working in PowerPoint and Word in order to create graphics for my coworkers. Working in InDesign has been challenging, but every day I use it I get more and more accustomed to how the program works and how to get better at using it. In light of this, I plan to take an Adobe InDesign course through UC. Not only will it help in my internship, but it will also help in my career.

I have a lot of new projects that are starting up over the next month. I've been assigned to redesign the recruitment brochure that is handed out, so I have been designing and coming up with different drafts to see which one works best. I also have been working on some tabs and cover pages for one of our bids, Camp Lejeune. I am also in the process of ordering some new customized water bottles with our logo on it to hand out at conferences and events, which has consisted of researching for a superior product and trying to get the best price. These projects will help me to learn more about the industry, as well as refine my skills and present new challenges for me to tackle.
